August Update

I have decided I am going to do something a little different with this blog. Let's just say I am going to post once a month. This way I don't feel bad for not posting all of the time like I did in college.
Anyways, my family and I took a trip to Austin. With the dogs we made the three hour trip. I had so much fun. So much. One day we got to go kayaking and paddle boarding. Even mom went with us! With Vivi Leigh in my lap, we headed up Lady Bird Lake on our kayak. After about an hour I let her get off, and I switched to a paddle board. Vivi was a trooper in her little life jacket, and even though Savannah didn't go out on the lake with us, she was so happy to get to play in the water by the shore. That same day we went to a restaurant called the Oasis. The food was divine, and the view was even better. The next day we went down South Congress Street and went to all of the little shops. After that we had lunch at a food truck park. On this trip we also just spent time relaxing which is more of a rarity in my family. I loved getting to spend time with them!!!
Mom was off more days than I was for vacation, but on one of the days I wasn't working we went to the JFK museum in Dallas. I had never been and wanted to go since it wasn't far from where we live. I really enjoyed it, and I learned a lot. On another day I went to Eric and Maddie's new house to visit them. Eric showed me around, we had lunch, and we just talked like old times. I have a feeling I am going to be seeing more of them now that they are in Fort Worth.
Going back to work was hard after such a fun vacation, but I have fun at work too. We had the minions come visit us and the kids. And, we had to move our entire storage unit. A few days of packing, a day of moving, and a few days of unpacking later I think we are done. It has been stressful, but we had some fun too. It keeps us sane. Maybe...
Dad and I got to go on a daddy/daughter date! We went to the Ranger game. Getting to spend time with my dad was so nice. We don't get to do that very often anymore. It's just hard to beat time with your dad, a ballpark hotdog, and caramel corn.
Last Sunday we celebrated my grandma's 80th birthday. I made the flower arrangements and helped my mom make banana pudding for the party. Arranging flowers was a lot of fun for me. I need to do things like that more often. Grandma seemed to have a good day. The food wasn't all that great (except for the pudding we made) because grandma didn't make it, but she still seemed happy to be surrounded by people she loves. I love her, and I hope she sticks around for another long while.
This weekend I head up to Utah for Meghan's wedding. That's going to be my last trip for a while, but I am sure I will have pictures and stories to tell! I'm going to her wedding!!!
